What a Stool

Who doesn't love a great bar stool? Finding the perfect style for your space, however, can be a bit challenging. When selecting a great bar or counter stool, it is important to keep a few things in mind?

How easily can this be cleaned?

Sure white leather looks fab but what happens when somebody spills sangria on it during one of your fabulous holiday parties. Get the same chic, clean look by going for a clear stool. It will still reflect the beautiful natural light in your apartment and you won't have to be the psycho stool stalker when company comes over.

How long am I going to be able to sit on this stool comfortably?

When selecting a counter stool, you need to find something you can sit, talk, eat, laugh and drink in for hours. For all you perfect posture Pilates people this task might be easy. For the rest of us, we need an chair with a back and some seat room for our...um... seat. Comfort doesn't mean $700 custom plush seating. It just means taking a little extra time to find a chair you feel good sitting it.

When it comes to seating I'm a firm believer in "try it before you buy it". There is nothing worse than spending your hard earned coins on a stool you only use for decoration.

Will this style suit more than one space, design, home?

Investing in furniture for your home is like investing in classic pieces for your closet. If you are going to spend the money on it, you want to get the most usage out of your purchase. Buying stools for a very specific design may look great at the time but what if you want to redecorate? Or move to a new location? I always suggest buying pieces that fit your style, not a space.

If you like contemporary furniture find classic contemporary pieces that will suit any wall color or kitchen redesign you may have in mind for the future. Get a lot of different looks out of the same piece by finding stools in the same style but in different colors. A chic mix and match is a great way to add design that's also transferable.
